Some other books I remember liking in grade school were The Stinky Cheese Man, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Where the Red Fern Grows, Catherine Called Birdy and The Giver.

I’m trying to read all the Newbery medal/honor books so I’ll have to read Strawberry Girl soon.
